The main hall comprises various areas, and these can be hired separately or combined into a package to best suit your requirements. (A detailed plan of the hall can be found here) The layout provides a blank canvas for you to arrange for your event – be that a wedding, party with a band, film show, meeting, theatre event, etc. We have provided a few photos here as examples…

Double external doors lead into the hall reception area which can be a great ‘meet and greet’ area. These provide direct access to the main hall, kitchen, Reading Room, bar and toilets. Just a note on the toilets – they are not yet fully up to standard re disabled access and will be improved later in the year. See our improvement projects here. There is a Payphone in the Foyer for use by hirers. Incoming calls can be received (01444 471645) if the hall is in use. This number is not to be used for enquiries.

The Reading Room is a small ‘breakout’ room which can be used with the Main Hall – either as a quiet area, or as a cloakroom, etc

Weddings often book the complete hall from Friday evening (to plan and prep), through to the Saturday celebration and Sunday morning (for cleaning up).
Hiring the complete hall provides the Renshaw Room, a separate multi use room. The stage lighting can be set-up to match your colour scheme – just let us know beforehand. The remote microphone can be used for the dreaded speeches, and the sound loop makes sure no one will miss the best man’s jokes… The drinks bar opens onto the main hall, and if you are intending to sell drinks we can arrange a licence for the evening.
If you are having a children’s birthday party or an anniversary celebration then the hall can provide many options for you. Have a look at the website and come up with your own ideas or have a chat to our Lettings Secretary. Don’t leave it too late as we have quite a few bookings for more than a year ahead!

Main Hall features: The hall is 154 square metres with an additional raised stage area of 27 square metres. Capacity of 150 seated theatre style; 120 seated at tables or approximately 175 for a party event. There is an electrically operated giant projection screen, with full sound system, remote microphone, free wifi and sound loop. Theatre lighting can be arranged as an extra charge. There is a large kitchen with commercial fridge, dishwasher and cooker, food preparation areas, hot water urn and serving hatch. Crockery and cutlery for 120 is provided. There are 20 folding tables and 120 upholstered chairs available located around the wooden floor. The separate bar opens out onto the main hall (a drinks licence can be included in the hire for £20).

The Renshaw room is situated at the far end of the building. It is 46 square metres and can be used for meetings, small events, study workshops, etc. It has its own separate entrance, or it can be accessed through the main hall so it can form part of the hire of the whole building. It features: Separate toilets, Small kitchen area for coffee / tea and snacks preparation, folding tables and chairs. Capacity of approx 45 seated theatre style or 30 at tables.

The recreation ground is the major part of the whole site which comprises 7.9 acres and contains full-sized football pitch and a cricket pitch. The ground is also used for stoolball matches during the summer.   There is a large fenced children’s play area on the far side of the recreation ground. The pavilion is separate from the hall and comprises a large main room, with two ‘team’ changing rooms; a subsidiary room, and two toilets. It is bright and airy and has bi fold opening doors onto the recreation ground. The pavilion is usually hired with the recreation ground for sports, but it can be hired out separately. For example it is a popular location for cycling events, using the pavilion as a refreshment stop.

There is a large tarmac car park with spaces for approx 50 cars, plus 2 disabled spaces and an unloading area.   There is overflow parking on the wide verge immediately outside the entrance to the car park.
